Round 2 Meetings - February/March 2022

Thanks for those who joined us on February 23 and March 1 and 2 for the second round of meetings, and those who participated in the online input period ending on March 18th. Attendees learned more about the plan’s progress and how community input from Round 1 Public Meetings, held in December 2021, is shaping the plan update. At the meetings, the planning team:

  • Collected feedback on potential adjustments to the County’s future land use policy.

  • Gathered input on action items to address priority needs and opportunities to facilitate well-managed growth for the next five years.

The same material was covered at all three meetings.

Map Input Tool

An interactive map activity closed January 7. Thanks to all who participated!

The map allowed participants to add markers with comments and interact with existing comments from other community members.

The input tool sought feedback on two topics:

  • Community Scale - Pins were placed on the map to show us preferences for the level of development in different areas around the County.

  • Balancing Land Uses - Pins were placed on the map to help us identify locations for some specific land uses that are important to the County's future.

Review map input here.

Who's Leading the Process?

The Planning Team – The Forsyth County Department of Planning and Community Development is overseeing the plan update process in close collaboration with its consultant team, led by Blue Cypress Consulting and supported by Pond & Company.

The Foster Forsyth Steering Committee, made up of representatives nominated by the County’s leadership, will guide the plan’s development and help ensure the plan reflects the community’s preferences for the future.

Once the plan has been drafted and reviewed by the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is responsible for adopting the plan and facilitating its implementation through policy decisions consistent with the plan and funding of the Community Work Program.
